Vacancies on your ALC Committee
There is still an urgent club need for a Club Secretary and soon we will also need a Chairman, Vice Chairman, and a Meals Organiser.
We need applicants for these posts now, so they can ‘shadow’ the position whilst the holder is still there. That’s far better than starting cold.
This is now our number one priority and will be top of the Agenda at our next Committee Meeting.
Quite a few of us have tried one or two of the Tradesmen recommended to us, but I’m not getting very much Feedback.
Here are a few of the comments I have had -
Joan Arnold wanted a Gardener and has been very satisfied with Lisa Monteith and Stuart
I needed the help of a ‘handyman’ for a task too big nowadays for me to take on and I called Lindsay Sprott of ‘Blue’. With his expertise he completed the task in half the time it would have taken me when I was 51, let alone 81.
Pam Waters wanted a Window Cleaner and I suggested ‘Clean Windows’ to her. She was pleased when he eventually came, but hasn’t seen him since and that was 6 weeks ago.!
Janine Pickering wanted a very good carpenter which Roy Collins sourced for us, but I haven’t heard back from Janine since.
Potential new members must attend two meetings as visitors before applying to join the club and must reside in the Bexhill-on-Sea area of East Sussex.
New applicants for membership will only be considered if the number of members does not exceed 130.
0 on the waiting list as at
New Members should contact the Membership Secretary either by using our
‘Contact Us’ facility or ringing 845907.
Fiona Castle - Tuesday 27th. June.
If you were one of the 84 who attended the above then I’m sure you thoroughly enjoyed our speaker Fiona Castle. If you weren’t there you missed a good one.! She wouldn’t take a fee and didn’t want a donation to a charity either.
Carol in thanking Fiona on behalf of the club did get her to accept an orchid which she looked happy to have.
How many of you knew she had driven herself over 100 miles to be with us and wouldn’t accept any traveling expenses either and after leaving us had to drive another 100 miles back home to Gerrards Cross in Buckinghamshire.
Some lady. Well done June Urquhart in finding her.
Fish and Chip Supper - Tuesday 26th. September @ 7pm
Pauline Forrester ( & Reg ) will be Hosting the ‘Fish & Chip’ part of the evening for us and want members to be aware of the arrangements for the event.
Briefly the Supper, this year, will be provided by ‘The Blue Anchor’ of London Road, Bexhill as our local F&C shop in the village has not met our expectations for the last 2 years.
Pauline has asked me to have a board ready for the first time at our July 25th club meeting. The selection should include Small & Medium Cod & Chips, Huss & Chips, Scampi & Chips, a Battered Jumbo Sausage (no chips) and individual Cone of Chips. This time we will not be having Chicken & Chips or Plaice & Chips due to the very small demand.
So place your order July/August to allow us time to prepare your ticket. The ticket you pay for is personal to you with your order on it. You can buy tickets over the two meetings 22nd. August and 13th. September AND YOU MUST BRING THE TICKET WITH YOU ON THE NIGHT ITSELF to t your supper.
My understanding is that orders will be prepared at The Blue Anchor in batches, probably 18-24 at a time and taxied to us until all orders are met.
How the rest of the evening goes, we’ll find out soon.
I’m adding another ALC Tradesman at the request of Val Nyss. If the name is unfamiliar to you Val is the lady always with a smile who looks after the Coffee’s for us at breaktime.
She and hubby had problems with their garage door and got hold of Mark Powell.
Garage doors won’t go wrong very often, but if they do give Mark Powell a ring as Val speaks very highly of him.
